Roundabout two years ago, I've already submitted an idea about a rack railway ( https://ideas.lego.com/projects/846c5c3d-f7bf-45a2-ab89-6d24b717b10a ); however, it only included the lower terminus, so ever since then, I've always had the latent gut feeling that without an upper counterpart, there's somehow something missing after all. So that's basically the whole idea behind this so-to-say succeeding submission, and here we are now, at the top of the mountain, at the end of the track, at the summit station; and as time goes by, I've also decided to electrify the rack railway and add a corresponding modern railcar. – Besides, which rack railway variant do you like better? Please feel free to let me know in the comments, every feedback is truly welcome!
The Build
The build consists of:
Summit station with mountain inn and tavern garden
Radio station with radome and weather measuring devices
Vault with storeroom and dormitory
Rack railway with catenary and electric railcar
Innkeeper, cook, employee, conductor, scientist, climber, fisherman, and two hikers
The Functionality
There are only two little functions:
The railcar can be moved upwards and will hold its position automatically, while it can only be moved downwards when releasing the ratchet mechanism with the little levers at the sides; see also image 14.
The fireplace can be enlightened by tapping on the chimney; see also image 10.
