The Nightmare Before Christmas

Welcome back to Halloween Town!

Some of you may recognise this design from my previous version of The Nightmare Before Christmas – Halloween Town, which secured 10,000 votes but sadly didn’t make the final decision in September 2021.

I have had the opportunity to display it at several LEGO shows in the UK over the last 12 months. The feedback from people has been awesome with a lot of people telling me I should re-submit it and try again. So after much persuasion from friends and family I have decided to re-submit but with some updates to my original version.

My original version from 2020/21

The rebuild itself (again made physically rather than digitally) combines several areas of Halloween town from the 1993 Tim Burton film 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'.

I’ve incorporated several more features into the build for the set to become more of a play-set allowing builders to recreate some of their favourite scenes from the film.

In the centre of the build as before is the haphazard house of Jack Skellington - the main character in the movie. Approximately one third higher than its predecessor with more external detailing it can also be spun round 360 degrees to reveal 3 small internal rooms. There is a living room with armchair and fireplace. An attic bedroom holding Jack’s bed and a room where Jack has created his own interpretation of Christmas with a Halloween twist.

On the right is the gothic Town Square complete with a newly added Town Hall along with an updated fountain. The trick or treaters Lock, Shock & Barrel can be found here with another new addition depicting Santa being kidnapped and transported in their walking bathtub.

To the left of the build an updated Spiral Hill can be found - still set within the town's graveyard. It now is also home to Jack’s Ghostly dog - Zero and his kennel tomb. Dr Finkelstein can be seen wondering the graves here whilst Jack & Sally join each other on top of the hill to recreate one of the film’s most recognisably scenes.

Another added feature of the build also has the inclusion of Jack masquerading as Sandy Claws along with his coffin themed sleigh and skeletal Reindeer. These can be placed on top of the new Town Hall as Jack tries to add that touch of Christmas to Halloween Town.

The updated build contains approximately 2000 pieces and 8 minifigures:

The movie combining two favourite times of year is so well known and loved by all ages. Adults who watched it nearly 30 years ago are still watching it with their own children - myself included!

I still believe this cross-generation appeal of such a unique movie deserves to have its own set immortalised in LEGO.

Recently I’ve seen several submissions chosen on their 2nd/3rd submission too. The latest review also selected the Hocus Pocus house indicating there could still be an appetite for other Halloween themed LEGO sets.
